Quite a lengthy route and you’re obliged to set out on the first stretch up to San Giacomo via the main Statale 36. Subsequently the surface on the climb remains one of asphalt, embraces Olmo and reaches the last houses at the top of San Bernardo. At this point whether on the way up or indeed on return we recommend a short detour to visit the characteristic hamlet of Scannabecco. Slopes are rarely excessive. From San Bernardo you head into Valle di Drogo along a mule track and some stretches of the path might cause a few headaches for the less adept. In particular you have to overcome some short sharp sections that greet you on the final part before reaching the cluster of mountain dwellings at Caurga at the end of the valley. Have a deserved break at the holiday farm nearby.
