The climb takes place entirely on an asphalt road all the way to Bodengo. It’s quite a long pull although the gradients are manageable. Once safely at the Cappella Donadio you might have a break to appreciate the expansive landscape of Valchiavenna to the north. From now on you encounter the real “untamed” Val Bodengo. The road heads up lined by rocky outcrops. On the left you’ll note the formidable cliff faces over the Boggia torrent. After the habitation of Bodengo you pedal on a dirt road to reach the characteristic cluster of baite (mt. dwellings) and crotti of Corte Terza. If you’re up for more you can take your two-wheeler along rather more uneven terrain as far as Corte Seconda with its own handful of baite.
